You will work in an international technical organisation active in marine control systems for the maritime industry. The company is part of a Japanese parent company and the clients are located worldwide.
The office in the Netherlands is focused on the after sales, which consists of maintenance, repair work, supplying spare parts and providing technical support. The Japanese roots are very evident. For example, they have a beautiful office in which the Japanese influences are clearly visible. In addition to this, they pay a lot of attention to the employees, which translates into clear agreements and good working conditions.
In the Netherlands, the team consists of 13 colleagues. Three of the colleagues are responsible for administration and customer service and the others fulfil the role of Service Engineer. You will join this international team with colleagues with different nationalities and backgrounds.
As a Service Engineer, your days are never the same. Every project, you work on different client sites in different countries with different people. You have the following tasks:
- Maintenance and repair work of marine control equipment on the customers site;
- Providing technical support from the office.
You work on different projects worldwide, varying from 3 days to 2 weeks’ time. The maintenance projects are scheduled in advance, but the urgent repair projects require flexibility. Approximately half of the time you work on projects together with one of your direct colleagues.
The maintenance and repair projects do not require a lot of tools, so you do not have to take a lot of heavy equipment with you to the sites. Most of the time a toolbox combined with your knowledge is enough!
The moments that you are not working on projects, you provide technical support to clients from the office in Ridderkerk. This also provides you time to prepare you projects. You work days from 9 AM to 5 PM.
For this position as Service Engineer, your personality and your drive are the most important. You will be internally educated to become an expert in the field of marine control systems. During the first period your studies will take place in the Netherlands, followed by a period in Japan.
Moreover, you recognize yourself in the following profile:
- You completed the lts, mts or another technical mbo study (or international equivalent);
- You have basic knowledge of Electrical Engineering;
- You are willing to work and stay overnight abroad on a very frequent basis;
- You are highly motivated to follow the internal education programme.
